The Very Best of Boothbay Harbor

Boothbay Harbor is a unique sea village in Midcoast Maine far away from the daily grind of city life. Tourists venture north to this breathtaking oasis to experience the natural beauty, restful seclusion, mouthwatering lobster, and warm hospitality. Linekin Bay Resort, Midcoast Maine’s premier lodging option, is a serene paradise with lovely waterfront cabins, delicious seafood, and daily activities by land and sea. An escape to Boothbay Harbor is rejuvenating, unforgettable, and often stirring! Witness a majestic humpback whale launch into the sky, cruise through the bay in search of Maine’s top lighthouses, and visit the quaint village of Boothbay Harbor. There is no wrong way to spend a day at Linekin Bay Resort.

Boothbay Harbor Whale Watch

All of our guests select our breathtaking Boothbay Harbor whale-watching tour. Whale watching should be on everyone’s bucket list. We will spot these gargantuan mammals—the world’s largest living creature—approximately 20 miles out to sea. You’re in luck because the best time to locate a whale is between April and October!

Private Boat Tour of Local Maine Lighthouses

Another guest favorite, our private Maine lighthouse boat tour is an absolute hit. The boat tour is perfect for those looking to hit the open ocean instead of bouncing from lighthouse to lighthouse in a stuffy car. The trips vary but typically on the tour are Burnt Island Lighthouse, Cuckolds Lighthouse, and Hendricks Head Lighthouse.

2-Hour Voyage on the Schooner Eastwind

Embark on a two-hour sailing expedition into Linekin Bay on Boothbay Harbor’s largest schooner! Schooner Eastwind is a distinguished vessel handcrafted by the Smith family. Herb and Doris Smith, your guides, have sailed around the world twice. On your voyage, you’ll spot lighthouses, wildlife, lobster anglers, and remote islands.

Boxed Lunch Trail Hike

Grab a boxed-lunch and set out on a trail hike on various local Boothbay Region Land Trust trails if you’re feeling extra adventurous one afternoon. Enjoy the serenity of the mossy, secluded Penny Lake Preserve or the active wildlife and stunning wetlands of Lobster Cove Meadow Preserve and Appalachee Preserve.

Quick History of Boothbay Harbor

English settlers made Boothbay Harbor their home in the early 1600s. These “original” settlers were eventually forced out by Native American Indians in the late 1600s. The village was reborn again in 1729 when Scotch-Irish families took claim of the land. Anglers and farmers have been thriving on this land and in these waters ever since. Shipbuilding, aside from fishing, became the area’s lead industry. Many World War I and II naval vessels were crafted in Boothbay Harbor. Today the village prospers from tourism, shipyards, and fishing.

Things to Do This Summer

Our oceanside paradise is home to one of North America’s best gardens: Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. With 295 acres of gorgeous plant life, this pristine sanctuary should be atop every guest’s itinerary. The nearby Boothbay Historical Museum is an engrossing trip into the past, while the Carousel Music Theater is an entertaining way to spend an evening in downtown Boothbay Harbor. Our clean, charming, and convenient lodging options are steps away from the best seafood and steam-fresh lobster on the coast at The Deck Bar & Grill. During your stay, you’ll also want to indulge in some pan-fried haddock and shrimp linguine, too. As the only sailing resort in New England, we provide access to our fleet of Lightning and Rhodes 19 sailboats! Breathe in the invigorating ocean air and discover a level of serenity you didn’t think was possible. Linekin Bay Resort is proud to reside one of Maine’s most charming sea villages.
