Traveling to Maine may feel a bit different this year. Whether it’s your first trip or your 51st trip to Maine, we want to help you navigate these changes so that you can enjoy your time at Linekin Bay Resort. Here is what you need to know as you plan your getaway to the Boothbay Harbor region this season.
On June 1st, we began welcoming Maine residents to Linekin Bay Resort. Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont residents can now travel without restriction within Maine starting Wednesday, July 1st. Residents of Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey can travel without restriction within Maine starting Friday, July 3rd. Physical distancing is still in order and face coverings are mandated in all common areas on the property.
As of June 26th, we welcomed all other visitors, with some state-mandated restrictions. Guests who are not Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey residents must complete a Certificate of Compliance form indicating they have received a negative COVID-19 test result, that they will quarantine in Maine for 14 days, or that they have already completed their quarantine in Maine.
FAQ on Property at Linekin Bay Resort
1. What activities are open on the property?
All activities are open on the Linekin Bay Property. Visit Land Activities and Water Activities for more information. Please see the Front Desk regarding any capacity restrictions at the pool while on property.
2. What are my dining options?
Linekin Bay Resort has a restaurant and bar on property that is open seven days a week. Dining at the Deck Bar & Grill will be by reservation only for both indoor and outdoor seating. Reservations can be made prior to your arrival or upon check-in. To call ahead and reserve a table for lunch, dinner, or a special event, please contact our Front Desk at (207) 633-2494.

3. Do I need to wear a mask during my stay?
Current state mandates require all guests to wear face coverings when in common areas. When dining in our restaurant, you may remove your mask once you have been seated at your table.
Please maintain a distance of 6’ from other guests when in common areas on the property.
FAQ For Visitors (provided by Maine.gov)
1. Why is Maine exempting residents from New Hampshire and Vermont?
Maine is exempting residents of New Hampshire and Vermont from the testing and 14-day quarantine requirements because when adjusted for population, the prevalence of active cases of COVID-19 in these states is similar to Maine’s, as compared to other states in the northeast.
2. Does every member of my household need to be tested before coming to Maine?
Testing for children, 18 years and younger, who are travelling with adults is not required.
3. What types of COVID-19 tests may work?
Maine only accepts PCR-based tests to qualify as an exception to the 14-day quarantine rule, and does not accept antibody testing for this purpose at this time. A rapid ID NOW test may be used for the purpose of an alternative to quarantine. Please consult Maine CDC’s guide on interpreting test results, which are available on its website (PDF).
4. How many days prior to my visit to Maine should I get a COVID-19 test?
Visitors should have a sample taken for a COVID-19 “PCR” test no later than 72 hours prior to arrival in Maine. You may also get a rapid result test once you have arrived in Maine.
5. Can I quarantine at my hotel, campground, or at my rental during my visit to Maine instead of getting a test?
Yes. You may choose to quarantine at your rental or place of lodging if you follow Maine’s quarantine requirements.
6. If I can’t schedule a COVID-19 test prior to my travel to Maine, can I get tested in Maine?
The Boothbay Region Health Center, located about 10 minutes from the Resort, offers swab tests by appointment for out-of-state residents who wish to forego the quarantine. This is a 2-step process (online telehealth visit and drive-thru test) that is covered by most health insurance. Be sure to call and schedule your appointment prior to your arrival, they are experiencing a high volume of requests and testing appointments. You can expect same-day results which will allow you to sign the required Certificate of Compliance. Click here for more details.

7. What if I am awaiting test results after arriving in Maine?
If you were tested for COVID-19 upon your arrival in Maine and do not yet have test results, you must quarantine in your room or rental until you receive a negative test result, and you must arrange for meals to be delivered to your room and you must avoid contact with staff and guests after check-out until your negative test result is received. Use of shared public spaces, dining spaces, gyms and pools is prohibited during quarantine.
8. How will I show evidence of a negative test or quarantine prior to my arrival at a lodging establishment or rental?
Effective June 26, Maine is utilizing a “Certificate of Compliance” and requiring all adult visitors submit the certificate prior to, or upon arrival, at their lodging establishment or rental.
9. What if I travel to multiple locations and lodging establishments during my visit to Maine?
Once a person is in Maine and has either quarantined for 14 days or received a negative test result, the person does not need to repeat the test when, for example, checking into a second or third Maine lodging establishment. The visitor may show documentation from their earlier stay.
