It is always important to know the basic “rules of the road.” Before making the trip to the waters of beautiful Boothbay Harbor, know that Maine personal watercraft laws indicate the following:
- All watercraft over 16 feet long must carry one lifejacket for each person aboard, plus one throwable floatation device.
- A boat operator must be at least 12 and supervised by someone who is at least 16.
- Boats registered in other states may operate for 60 days without being licensed in Maine.
- One may not operate a watercraft on the inland waters of the state unless a Lake & River Protection Sticker is affixed to both sides of the watercraft.
- Operating a boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
